Painted Desert and Petrified Forest
Despite the look at times, the white is rock, and not sand.
There are/were "petrified wood chips" scattered all over a few spots. Almost like a wood chippers shop, or if you've ever dumped mulch chips into a pond or puddle.

Certain people didn't do the hike. We won't use initials but mommy, Annie, and Zeke didn't do more than 2 lengths of switchback until they stopped.
A lot more rocks, but with trees this time!!
